Selection Guide

Every skill in Long Yin can be 'broken through' (突破) for permanent or combat bonuses. The quality of the breakthrough roll determines the bonus magnitude. Emei's +20% modifier applies to EVERY breakthrough attempt — and crucially, the modifier persists AFTER you leave Emei for another sect.

Baiyuntian is the strongest companion NPC in the entire game by a wide margin. He's an Emei sect senior. Recruiting him is one of the biggest power spikes available — almost every advanced Chinese-community guide mentions him.

1. Reach Vice Sect Leader (副掌门) — unlocks Chapter 2.
2. Breakthrough ALL your core skills under the +20% bonus. Save-load on key skills for Red quality breakthroughs.
3. Recruit Baiyuntian (complete his quest arc).
4. Leave to your endgame sect: Penglai (sword/internal), Wudang (internal), or STAY if going True Damage.

Most legendary skills require random discovery or sect raid. 含光无形剑 is the rare exception — given to full Xianxia members. Saves 50+ hours of grinding for the build's core skill.

1. Raise sword stat to 30+ (1-2 years of focused sword training).
2. Maintain neutral or righteous morality.
3. Visit Xianxia Mountain. Pass the sword duel entry trial.
4. Complete membership arc and receive 含光无形剑 as the sect-gift.

Taiji Divine Art is Wudang's signature legendary internal. Paired with Daodejing (道德真经), the synergy is the highest-ceiling internal damage build in the game. Both skills are sect-given on full membership, removing the random-find barrier that plagues other internals.

1. Reach martial stats threshold + positive morality (Wudang requires righteous alignment).
2. Travel to Wudang Mountain. Approach the gate guards.
3. Pass the entry trial (combat + morality dialogue check).
4. Complete the welcome arc and unlock initial skill scroll access.

Most builds pass through Penglai late game for one of three reasons: (1) 敲爻歌诀 as alt-internal damage, (2) 凌虚飞渡 movement skill, (3) Penglai Gold Sword endgame weapon. Neutral alignment makes it accessible to nearly any morality build.

1. Reach mid-game (Year 5+) with neutral or positive morality.
2. Travel to the eastern coast and find the Penglai ferry event.
3. Complete the immortal-test trial (skill demonstration + insight check).
4. Earn introductory contribution and unlock 凌虚飞渡 / 敲爻歌诀.

Self-forged weapons require Smithing 150+ for reliable keyword rolls. Thunderclap's +10/+20 absolutes are the only way to push Smithing to 150+ without burning attribute points. Every endgame build passes through Thunderclap mid-game just for these — even if the player has zero crafting interest.

1. Raise Smithing stat to 25+ (or rely on a smith-focused background).
2. Maintain neutral morality (Thunderclap is alignment-strict).
3. Travel to Thunderclap workshop and pass the forge trial.
4. Earn contribution, unlock +10 absolutes first, then +20 with elder rank.

神农本草秘要 boosts Medical/Poison/Internal potential by +2 each. Medical and Poison are situational, but the +2 Internal potential is universally valuable — every internal-damage and evasion-combo build benefits. Pass through Medicine King mid-game just for this skill.

1. Raise Medical (医术) stat — 1 year of focused medical training.
2. Maintain neutral or positive morality.
3. Find Medicine King Valley in the mountainous south region.
4. Pass the herbal-knowledge entry trial. Unlock 神农本草秘要 study.

Grand Hidden members get a unique privilege: they can study manuals from any other sect without formally joining. This bypasses alignment locks that would otherwise prevent (e.g.) a Wudang member from studying Demonic Cult skills. Best fit for players who want maximum build flexibility.

1. No strict stat requirement — scholarly entry.
2. Visit Grand Hidden Pavilion via scholar/debate event chain.
3. Pass the philosophical debate trial (Intelligence + Scholarship checks).
4. Unlock learn-any-sect-manuals privilege at full membership.
